Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Governance

Friends of Freie Universität Berlin, in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact, is pleased to announce the Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Governance. Launched in 2005 at FFUB’s Transatlantic Bridge Award Gala honoring Prof. Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum, fellows will integrate research and expertise into the current work of the Global Compact, a sponsoring corporation and a partnering educational institution of the Freie Universität Berlin, each for 3 months respectively.

Based on the Global Compact’s 10 responsibility-driven principles, the fellowship brings the public, private and educational sectors together in a collaborative effort to “harness the potential of markets and business leadership through shared values and collective action so that global markets can be made to work for all". Secretary-General Kofi Annan has called upon these sectors, to engage their support in areas of immediate global concern through cooperation with the Global Compact.

The Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Governance presents a unique and exciting opportunity to spearhead research through public-private partnerships with leading organizations and individuals in the field of corporate and social responsibility. Building upon the need for greater transparency, dialogue and cooperation alongside political, economic and environmental challenges, the Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Governance will identify and cultivate scholars who are committed to advancing the principles of global responsibility.

The 2007-08 Fellowship is generously sponsored by the Global Compact Foundation.
